One arm push up and double under updates
Well these two challenges seem to be just a bit more challenging than I was expecting. To do them correctly that is!
I want to be able to do a one handed push up like they do in the fitness competitions minus the funky get ups! Well they are pretty hard! I have been doing one handed Bosu ball push ups at least every other week. I have also been doing a lot more core and ab work. Bird dogs from my hands and feet have proven challenging but awesome and I have gotten the hang of them! I used to do a chest day every other week or so. Sometimes not at all. Since I set this goal I have been doing chest minimum once a week. My wrist has been hurting so I have scaled back on actual push ups for now but still trying to increase my chest and core strength until it heals!
Now double unders.
Well first I realized to make sure I have been the bathroom before attempting and almost learned that the hard way! :/ I about peed my pants on the first jump one day!
I have also realized that I am not a very “boundy” person! If you know me personally i’m sure you're not surprised! I have been jumping rope quite a bit even if it's for just a few minutes a few times a week but still have yet to put together more than about 8 double unders in a row. I have put together about 15 with a jump in between each which is pretty challenging for me to begin with!
Did I reach my goals? No not yet. But the point of goals isn’t always to achieve them. They are stakes in the ground to make sure that you are continually moving forward. They help you gauge your progress, stay on track and see both improvement and weaknesses. Every goals needs evaluated after certain amounts of time to see what else can be done to reach your goal or if you need to make a new more challenging goal to keep you progressing!
So with that said I am still on my path to double unders and one handed push ups. It just might take a bit longer than I expected!
