Okay. So. At the begining of November I decided that I was setting a goal for myself to complete by the end of the year! I wanted to be able to do 20 double unders in a row!
If you don't know what a double under is it is when you jump rope and the rope goes under you twice every jump!
So I started out pretty good. Practising a couple times a week. I got to a few or I could do one or two in between some regular jumps but it just wasn't clicking! I am not a very bouncy person so I figured this was gonna be a learning curve!
Well needless to say the year ended and I hadn't done what I set out to do! :(
Instead of being mad at myself I took some time away from them and set some different goals to work on.
This week I though hard about what was holding me back. Bouncing! I kept trying to just do double unders and clearly wasn't getting very far. Not to mention that when your trying to get the rope under you twice a jump you have to spin it fast. Now when you miss and the rope whips you in the butt IT STINGS!!!!!
So I started practising jumping slower and higher! Light on my feet and bounding without worrying about the rope! It was just what I needed! The lightbulb clicked!
I Did 20 in a row!!! Then 15, then 14, then 22 and most at a time was 25. I did 125 double unders total today!!
So moral of the story is....sometimes you don't reach your goals by when you want but if you give up you never will! Keep trying and you will find what works for you! Better late than never!
Watch here at my last 25 of the day! New goal=50 in a row!
