MOTIVATION (OR LACK OF) MONDAY!!!!!

So today I woke up tired and unmotivated.  I hadn't slept very well.  I had a bit of a stomach ache all night and just couldn’t get comfortable!  Getting up was not fun.  In the second or two that I laid in bed dreading getting up I thought, you know what….just get up.  

That is all.  

Take it step by step today and it will all work out.  

Doesn’t help that today is Monday and combined with being tired made my motivation level to workout pretty low!  Mid morning I had a break at work and had a few options.  Lay in the sauna and waste two hours doing nothing and then have to workout in the afternoon or somehow get it done.  

Of course laying in the sauna sounded like a much better idea but I knew that I would feel better getting my workout in.  Starting the week out with a good workout is always a confidence and mood boost that sets the tone for the week!  

But my motivation is about to hit zero….what do I do?   

Today I kept it simple.  I didn’t look ahead of myself and  instead I took it one activity at a time.  What happened?  I had a pretty awesome workout!  

Instead of thinking of all of these exercises that I wanted to do or trying to do a ton of boring cardio I started small!

I got on the stairs for 10 minutes….I stayed for 20!

I decided that I wanted to bench press today.  Guess what…. I lifted heavier for more reps than I have before!  Was that a PR hit! I think so!

I decided to do another group of 3 exercises…...I ended up with a full workout!  Instead of dreading the entire workout I just told myself to start.  Do one thing and if you want to do another after do it.  

It's not about trying to have the best or longest workout ever.  It is about taking it that day one thing at a time.  More often than not once I get started I don’t want to stop!

Have you ever felt yourself just not feel up to working out?  What techniques do you use to help overcome that feeling?  

However you do it find your motivation and you will feel better after!
